KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysian Microsoft ( Microsoft ) reminds consumers that it will officially terminate the service and support of Windows XP on April 8, 2014.
In a statement, Microsoft said that although the end date is a year away, it is important for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs ) and consumers in Malaysia to move from XP , an operating system 11 years to avoid potential vulnerabilities and risks interfere with the operation business and result in increased costs.
It said that from 8 April, 2014 , Microsoft will no longer provide repair and automatic updates or online technical assistance for Windows XP .
This also means that users will no longer receive security updates to protect personal computers from viruses , spyware and other malware .
" Even though XP is one of the most popular operating system in Microsoft's history , it is not designed to meet the challenges of today, such as increased exposure to cyber attacks and the demand for higher data privacy , unlike the operating system Windows 7 and 8 , " said Chief Marketing and Operations Officer , Microsoft Malaysia's Danny Ong .
